Montana

This is the bear that we saw at Glacier. It was very big. We went to Whitefish for vacation over the 4th of July weekend. It was just a couple of hours.

We went on the Hidden Lake Hike. Ask Ashlee about what type of footwear to wear on a 3 mile hike over snow. I bet her answer will not be gym shoes.

Here is my bar.

Here is Ashlee coming up the trail.

Lastly, here is the squirrel that bit me.

Savannah and Tybee Island

A few weeks ago I (Ashlee) went home to Ooltewah and we left the next day to go to Tybee Island and Savannah. It was my first time to Savannah and I have always wanted to go to this great Southern city. It was so quaint and similar to what I had imagined. The city is very logically laid out, (unlike Seattle) with 31 squares that feature fountains, statues, and huge trees with moss hanging from the branches.  Tybee beach was very laid back and a lot less crowded than florida beaches. All of the restaurants had a local flavor and we enjoyed eating a lot of shrimp!

This trip was special because it was the last time that we had time with Mom and Chris before they went to Germany. Our extended family joined us too and we had fun going to the beach and playing scrabble at night. One highlight of the trip was getting to eat at Paula Deen's Lady and Sons!

Ashlee: "Casey, are you taking my picture?"

Casey: "no"

Photographers comments: this is the latest in my series of pictures
documenting Ashlee at restruants. This was taken at Makenzie River
Pizza in Whitefish, Montana.

Jen and John are married!

We were able to attend the wedding of my old roommate Jen at the end of May here in Seattle. She and her husband Jon, are perfect for each other! After several years of surviving a long distance relationship between Seattle and LA they are finally married and now living in LA! The service was simple and beautiful and the intimate dinner at the 35th street Bistro afterwards was a relaxing time to get to the know friends and family of Jen and John. We are so glad that we got to be a part of your day!

Baby Abe is with Jesus

This week has been especially hard as we learned that our friends from church, Carl and Bethany, lost their precious 2 month old baby boy. Casey and I were able to go to the memorial service yesterday for little Abe and we were so touched by the family's resolve to praise Jesus for their little boy's life even in the face of this terrible tragedy. We had the opportunity to spend some time with Abe in May and he was the sweetest little baby. He had the cutest facial expressions and his little personality was showing through. As we try to minister to his precious parents during this time we will continue ask God to pour out his grace and love to them and to comfort them in the way that only He can. Thankfully, we have the hope of restoration and seeing Abe again one day.

Poutien

Everything in Canada is covered in brown gravy. Fries. Sandwitches.
Gravy with more gravy.

The road to the fishing spot is washed out, so we are in longlac. At a
little campground in town. We are catching lots of walleye. We drove
16 hours strait from the twin cities here. No cell phones work, but
they have wifi. Go figure.

Its cold. Zero degrees Celsius. We are at a hotel since we could not
sleep last night.

Cheers!
